In John Grisham's hit book The Firm, the main character's dream car is a black BMW 318i. When The Firm opens next week, Tom Cruise will be driving a Mercedes-Benz 300 CE.

Why?

Director Sydney Pollack wanted it, based on the proposal submitted by Mercedes. "Maybe he wanted the more conservative image of Mercedes," offers Eric Dahlquist, president of the Vista Group, which places products in films.

"No!" he says, the rumor that Pollack was given a car is "not true."
